My Shoe

By Anna Marie Hernandez

Illustrated by Roger Vanderlinden

Shoe

Where, oh where is my stinky tennis shoe?

I haven't a single detective clue.

Did Harley take my shoe to his doghouse?

Was my shoe stolen by the garage mouse?

Everybody wants my stinky old shoe!

My shoe is not lost in Dad's sock pile.

It's not stored in Grandpa's metal file.

My brother steals my shoe for playing tag.

Can it be found in Mon's mending clothes bag?

Everybody wants my stinky old shoe!

My tennis shoe can be juggled up to the sky.

On the ground it can squash a bug or fly.

It can be used for digging up snails.

My shoe is good for hitting small nails.

Everybody wants my stinky old shoe!

See what's happened to my stinky old shoe!

In Grandma's window, tied in strings of blue,

Fine silk pansies are stuck in a strange vase.

Who would stick flowers in such an odd places?

Everybody wants my stinky old shoe!
