Shots

By Moushumi Chakrabarty

Illustrated by Neal Stepp

Quaking and quivering

Moaning and shivering

I'm off to school

Because it is the rule,

You see, today's the 'shot' day

It'll hurt even though they say

It won't, I bet they're lying

That's something I'm not buying.

The minutes fly past in fear

And my heart's following, oh dear!

"Be brave," grins Nurse at the door

I'll try, but I'm not coming back for more.
