"Aunt Toni is here! Yuk!"
My Aunt Toni is really a sweet lady, but I hate it when she comes to visit. The visiting part is okay. It's the leaving part that I dread. You see, Aunt Toni can't walk out the door without giving me a kiss. Not a peck on the cheek mind you, but a big wet sloppy kiss right on the mouth! I mean atomic!
Okay, I know she's in the living room talking to Mom, so now is the time to plan my farewell strategy. I've had some good ideas before, but they've all seemed to backfire.
There was the time Aunt Toni said, "Well, got to get moving." I quickly ran and hid under the dining table.
"Oh, Daniel, where are you? Time to give your Aunty Toni a kiss." Too obvious, she found me. She planted one square on my face.
Then there was the time I heard her say, "I must scatdoodle." This time I hid in my treehouse. How was I to know a woman her age could climb a tree!
The last time she was here, I heard her say, "Gotta boogie on outta here." I had it all figured out. I ran to my mother's vanity table, and grabbed that really ugly shade of purple lipstick that she has had in there since before I was born. I colored some big, purple circles on my lips and said, "Sorry, Aunt Toni, I seemed to have come down with some bad fever blisters."
"Oh you poor thing! Let Aunt Toni kiss all those boo-boos away." Boy, I wished I hadn't put on so many. She gave me a kiss for every spot on my mouth!
"Well, I must be heading out now."
Oh no! She's leaving, what am I going to do! Quick, I'll hide in the hedge bushes.
"Daniel! Daniel darling, where is my favorite nephew? Oh well, never mind. Aunt Toni is very tired today."
What? She's getting in her car. She's pulling out her keys. She's going to drive away! I don't believe it!
"Wait Aunt Toni! WAIT! You didn't say goodbye to me."
SMMMMMAAAAACK!
"I love you Aunt Toni."
