Interactive story telling is based on the written activity commonly
referred to as a 'story tree', where a group is given the beginning of a
story, and asked to add a line or paragraph to the story and pass it
along to the next person. In this way the story grows and changes as it
is passed from one person to the next. This accomplishes two things:
1) creates a sense of community
2) promotes creativity in a public forum
This exercise was created specifically to measure whether the activity
could be modified from its origins as a written activity into an
interactive Internet-based activity for school-aged children. My goals
are threefold:
1) to promote the use of the Internet to facilitate learning
2) to promote language and keyboarding skills
3) to promote interaction between geograpically separated schools
It is my hope that by interacting via this medium, students may feel the
same sense of community as they would if they were participating in the
traditional oral or written form of this activity.
